Re: Proposed PSA boundaries within ANC 3F

Dear Chairman Cropp:

Having reviewed the proposed PSA restructuring plan and its effect on the

residents of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3F, this Commission supports the

proposed boundaries for new PSAs 202 and 203 that are included in the area of

ANC 3F. Those proposed PSAs appear to make sense from the standpoint of more

effective policing and police-community relations.

A key consideration is that a single PSA (203 or 202) has responsibility for

both sides of the commercial areas on Connecticut and Wisconsin Avenues --

thereby facilitating coordinated police work and relationships with the

respective communities.

Specifically:

On the north of ANC3F, the boundary between PSAs 203 and 201 makes good sense

from the standpoint of neighborhood policing and is the boundary between ANC

3F and ANC 3/4G.

On the west, the boundary between PSAs 203 and 202 (along Reno Road, NW)

makes good sense from the standpoint of neighborhood policing even though that

PSA boundary divides ANC 3F.

On the south, the boundary between PSAs 203 and 204 seems reasonable from the

standpoint of neighborhood policing even though the PSA boundary deviates

slightly from the boundary between ANCs 3F and 3C.

On the east, the boundaries between PSA 203 and PSAs 403 and 404 coincide

both with the boundary between two MPD Districts and the boundary between ANC 3F

and ANC 4A.

We express no opinion as to wisdom of any PSA boundary outside ANC 3F.

This letter was approved by a vote of 6-0-0 at a duly noticed meeting of ANC

3F with a quorum present (four commissioners constituting a quorum) on March

15, 2004.

Sincerely,

/s/ Karen Lee Perry
